Life . . . as Champions
Friday was the first night in a while when the girls got together for nothing but pure junk-food eating, gossiping, and chick-flick watching. It was a great time and made me realize how much I enjoy those times especially when everyone is so busy and it takes a month of planning to get together for a few hours. Saturday night Dave and I were in a curling tournament with Denise and Chris at their curling club. Brian gave Dave a pep talk before we left, reminding him that we had to "Defend the Title" since the last two times Bri and Dave played they won (yes, it helps having a couple of Allsop ringers on the team). Well, filling in for the first position, I have to say - I helped bring the belt back home for another year.
Who knew curling was such a strain on parts of the body. After playing seven ends, throwing 14 rocks, and sweeping the rest of the time, wow does your body ache. Maybe it's the fact that we don't regularly curl or use those muscles, or maybe it's that we're not getting any younger but when it hurts to sit down and stand back up you know you've got a problem. At least it was worthwhile - a great chance to catch up with the fam, prevail as champions, and experience something new. They say after 48 hours is when you feel it the most . . . I definitely can't wait.
