CN goes Neon

For those who haven't listened to the radio lately, walked downtown at night, or read the paper, something is happening in Toronto that's going to be big and I've been talking about this forever...maybe they were listening. Whoever they are.

The CN Tower - the world's tallest freestanding building is lighting up. For 31 years the tower has stood in the heart of the downtown and is a popular attraction site for tourists. Who wouldn't want to visit this? Especially at night, it lights up the area and can be seen for miles and miles - can't you see how spectacular it is in the picture to the right?

A few weeks ago at a Jays game (of course) we watched the elevator move every few minutes down the shaft - we finally figured out they were adding neon lights. On Tuesday when we were at the Jays game we saw it lit up - bright red, green, blue, purple, red and white, yellow and pink, solid colours and rainbows.

Now this will be something that people will talk about and you won't be able to miss it. The official unveiling is June 28th. I think they are still working on the settings and testing things out but it really does look pretty cool. Sure it doesn't help the energy crisis but I'm sure they are using the most efficient lights and what we spend in hydro will pay for itself in the added revenue (I mean, that's the plan right?). Eiffel Tower watch out, you've got nothing on us now.
